Specialist Therapy for Children, Teens & Adults. Face to Face and Online
Welcome, and thank you for visiting Ross Cormack Psychotherapy. I am a psychotherapist providing both short- and long-term therapy to Children, Teens & Adults in Hove.
I am a psychotherapist and counsellor based in Brighton and Hove, with over 20 years of experience supporting children, young people, adolescents, and families. My career began in 2005 as a Youth and Community Worker, where I worked in inner-city youth centres, detached projects, and national community programmes addressing youth crime and social disadvantage. This foundation shaped my deep understanding of the complex emotional and relational needs of teens and young people.
I qualified as a Child and Adolescent Counsellor in 2015 and completed a Master’s Degree in Psychotherapy in 2019. Alongside this, I spent 14 years supporting bereaved families through a national charity, developing specialist skills in grief, trauma, anxiety, and emotional regulation in children and adolescents.
For the past six years, I’ve worked in private practice offering psychotherapy and counselling to children, teenagers, and adults. I also served as Clinical Lead for an NHS-commissioned adolescent mental health service, supporting young people with trauma, anger, low self-esteem, and relationship challenges.
I’m trained in EMDR therapy and offer this to children, teens, and adults. I also provide clinical supervision to therapists. Sessions are available in-person in Brighton and Hove or online across the UK.
As a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor based in Brighton and Hove, I offer specialist psychotherapy and counselling for children, and teens facing emotional or mental health challenges. My approach is attachment-focused, emphasising the importance of relationships, emotional connection, and safety in the therapeutic process.
I support young people with a range of difficulties including anxiety, anger, low self-esteem, trauma, and emotional regulation. Sessions are adapted to meet each child or teen’s developmental needs, using a blend of play, art, and talking therapy to help them express their feelings in age-appropriate ways.
I work collaboratively with parents and carers, offering guidance to better understand their child’s emotional world and strengthen family relationships.
I am trained in EMDR therapy, a highly effective approach for processing both single-event and complex trauma. EMDR can be offered as a standalone therapy or integrated into ongoing psychotherapy.
I also provide clinical supervision for professionals working with children, young people, and families.
Sessions are available in-person in Brighton and Hove or online, making support accessible to families across the UK. Together, we can help your child build resilience, emotional wellbeing, and stronger relationships.
I work from private offices located in Suite 306, The Dock Hub, Wilbury Villas, Hove, BN3 6AH, and see clients from Brighton & Hove, West Sussex, North London, South London, and Surrey.
In addition to providing face-to-face therapy, I also offer online sessions for clients in these areas and beyond via Teams.
Psychotherapy sessions last 50 minutes and are charged at £80 per session. For younger children, we may agree on a shorter session depending on their age and needs. I begin with an initial parent or carer assessment, which may span up to three sessions depending on the nature of the referral. For adolescents under 16, this can be a joint session with a parent. For teens aged 16 and over, I can meet individually.
EMDR therapy is available at £90 per 50-minute session. For adult clients with complex trauma presentations, extended 90-minute sessions are offered at £110. EMDR is effective for trauma, anxiety, and emotional regulation in both teens and adults.
